My niece is attending DigiPen Junior 2D Game Design workshop for 2 weeks while she stays with us. The first week was a success, and she has had so much fun she asks to stay late every day. Topics covered: creating a dice game and a card game, what elements do games have, what makes a game fun, how to build PONG (YES I SAID PONG, my niece can make this game for me now! How cool is that?), how to add sound, etc.
In preparation for her class we watched “Indi Game the Movie” on Zune/Xbox Live. Warning: lots of cussing. Now we are planning on making Meat Boy and Fez cookie to bring with us to Penny-Arcade when we visit next week.
